In October, 12 participants from Second Step Housing completed and graduated from the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Course within the organization’s Life Skills Program. One of the steps toward facilitating self-sufficiency in Second Step’s program is teaching the women how to obtain financial security for themselves and for their families.
The accomplishments and achievements made by the residents throughout the 10 week course at times probably seemed insurmountable.
One resident, who described her financial situation prior to the course as “hopeless,” paid off over $700 in debt while saving $400 in her emergency fund during the course of the program. She said the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Course has given her “financial confidence, peace of mind and a sense of financial security.”
As a result of their success, the Second Step Housing Participants will be featured in a national Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University newsletter in January 2012.
