What are you grateful for?

The holiday season is fast approaching and the list of things to do is quickly filling up.  But before we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we wanted to take a step back, reflect on the past year, and give thanks.

At Second Step Housing, we are lucky to cross paths every day with people from all walks of life, from our clients who work hard to overcome barriers, to volunteers who give selflessly, from our community partners who help us carry out the important work we do, to our supporters who give generously.  In each and every way, we learn from and are inspired by you.

Staff and board members at Second Step Housing would like to share with you what they are grateful for.  We hope you’ll be inspired and share with us what you are thankful for. We’d really like to hear from you.

Happy Holidays!

I am grateful for the problems I have.  All of the problems I have today are problems that I am lucky to have, work stress, what to make for dinner, how to get my kids to sports.  These are problems that I am lucky to have.   There are many people in this world who cannot even conceptualize how grateful they would be to have these problems. – Brad, Board Member

I am thankful to know and receive God’s unconditional love. I am thankful for the blessings and grace He has shown me. I am thankful for my family and the love we have for each other. I am blessed to have three beautiful, healthy and intelligent children who are kind to others… I am fortunate and blessed in every way. – Robin, Receptionist & Volunteer Coordinator

I am grateful that my boys still want to give me hugs and kisses, I am grateful that I have a supportive family and good friends who always make me laugh, I am grateful to work with caring, strong and smart individuals. I am grateful for the many experiences, good and bad, that have helped me along the way. I am grateful for quiet mornings and noisy evenings. I am grateful for being here. – Emmanuelle, Fund Development Director

I am grateful for such resources as Second Step Housing and all of its supporters in every way and in every direction they guide us in. – Felisha, Board Member

I am grateful for my mother who raised me and modeled quiet strength and dignity as a single parent.  So grateful for my three daughters, Sydnee, Savanna, Sinclaire, and granddaughter Serenitee. I am blessed to have them in my life. I am grateful for the extended family and friends who have provided me encouragement during most difficult times.  Most of all I am grateful for countless blessings God has provided for me, the lessons I have learned and currently learning, and the opportunity to be a guest in another person’s life through service. Overall I am grateful for another year of life. – David, FSS Coordinator

Some of the things I am thankful for: a job that I Love, that feeds my soul and makes me smile; a place to call home; my neighbor for helping me with a flat tire; for my boys – a true blessing! The laughter that fills my home, my office and my everyday life; a country that allows me to think freely, be my own person, and live a life that I choose; overcoming adversities, learning the lessons I needed from each and seeking personal growth to become a better me; my soon to be daughter-in-law, the daughter I didn’t have but was chosen for me! My nieces and nephews, our special relationships and the opportunity to watch them grow into the wonderful people they are! My son’s step mom…for loving him like her own and always providing him with her support ♥; my clients, and the privilege to work them, keeping me humbled, and the honor of being part of their lives; my sister…the gift of her friendship, our morning coffee, shared memories and experiences. – Karin, Lead FSS Coordinator
